This unit provides four lessons regarding Osage history and culture that can be taught with the use of books for younger readers.
Osage People in the Past
Units B–G review major points in the rich history of the Osages, and catch a glimpse of their way of life.
Osage Nation Today
Units H‐N review modern Osage life and see how Osages have overcome the problems discussed in the previous section.
These lessons were originally created by the Osage Classroom Lessons Project in partnership with the Flint Hills Map & Education Program of the Flint Hills Discovery Center in Manhattan, Kansas. We have also utilized digital materials from the Osage Culture Traveling Trunk Project in Springfield, Missouri.
