Learn about the Osage People Past & Present

The story of the Osage is a story of our people, but also a story of the land, of survival and spirituality, of family and community, and of America and the human experience.

Teachers may find an overview of grade levels and subject areas here.

Overview of Osage Life

This unit provides four lessons regarding Osage history and culture that can be taught with the use of books for younger readers.

These lessons were originally created by the Osage Classroom Lessons Project in partnership with the Flint Hills Map & Education Program of the Flint Hills Discovery Center in Manhattan, Kansas. We have also utilized digital materials from the Osage Culture Traveling Trunk Project in Springfield, Missouri. Other references are listed in the sources section at the bottom of the Fact Sheets or in the Teacher's Guides.
